(with Terri Latella in top photograph) was successful at being the first Greens councillor on Wyong Shire
Council. She is married with three adult children and has lived
in
Mannering Park for the last 30 years. Sue originally trained as a high
school Mathematics teacher and has held many positions in public
education in both teaching and management. Sue is a member of
the Central Coast Community Environment Network Planning Committee,
Mannering Park Progress Association and the Gwandalan/Summerland Point
Action Group. As
a Greens Councillor Sue would bring a new perspective to Council's
decisions. She would provide those concerned about our water, our land
and the health of our future with a voice in local government. WHAT WILL SUE WYNN DO ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE? "I'm
passionate about the environment and believe that local government has
a huge role to play. Climate change is .the-biggest issue facing all
levels of government and, if elected, I would propose that Wyong Shire
become carbon neutral. There's a lot we could be doing to achieve this,
including: • opposing any new coal mines • retaining our bushland and increasing the network of cycleways and pathways • attracting environmentally friendly businesses to Wyong • increasing the proportion of funding Council devotes to the environment and sustainable development , • ensuring Council's own business is as sustainable as possible "It's
also critical that we secure a sustainable water supply by maintaining
rebate schemes for water saving devices and by making sure all new
developments include storm water harvesting. There's a lot more we need
to do." WHAT WILL SUE WYNN DO ABOUT SERVICES FOR PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITY? "Local
government has a direct impact on the quality of people's lives. As a
Greens Councillor I would seek to improve the quality of life for Wyong
residents. Council could be doing a lot more, including: • improving and expanding facilities and services for children and young people • building a comprehensive integrated public transport system • making sure that the people affected by Council's decisions have been properly consulted • providing affordable housing while promoting policies to retain relocatable home sites in their present areas • continuing to oppose the privatisation of the State's electricity supply by the lemma Labor State Government
