March 2016

A message from the new secretary

As the incoming secretary, it is my pleasure to thank Ruth Herman on behalf of all members for the dedication and enthusiasm that she brought to this position. We are all greatly indebted to her for a fantastic effort. Ruth will continue to be an active and valued member of our local group.

Do you have an interest in or experience with media?

We have been very fortunate to have the skills and vision of Justine Suthers to drive our local group media matters but our luck has come to a sudden end with Justine’s notice that she will not continue in that role.

With a federal election on the horizon and our campaign already underway, the Central Coast Greens are now urgently seeking to fill that position with one or more suitable candidates from among our membership.

What does being our Media Officer involve?

– general publicity for our events and our candidates

– releasing of statements and announcements to the local media

– dealing with photographs and footage, audio recordings

– maintaining media relations

– collating and managing a media archive

– coordinating with our campaigns and the local group

– maintaining and running of our social media pages

– liaising with our web site coordinator

– being one of the spokespersons for the local group

– being a co-creator of our media strategy

Like all of our positions, this role is on a voluntary basis.

We are open to proposals for sharing or sub-tasking this position.

Training, mentoring and support will be made available to supplement your existing skills.

If all or any of these sound like you then please respond to: secretary@centralcoast.nsw.greens.org.au by 17 March 2016 or take part in our local group meeting on 18 March (details below). Please refer to the attached “Call for Nominations – Media Officer” for further details.

We are working on a brand new web site

For all those not in favour of or not familiar with social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc), we are doing our best to completely overhaul our Central Coast Greens web site. The idea is to give you access to all up-to-date news, announcements, our events calendar, information archives and resources to make it easier to participate and keep in touch. I will let you know and provide an introduction as soon as we go ‘live’ with it.
